Teachers without Borders (TwB) is a volunteer network for all professionals in the field of education.

We act in response to the global learning crisis, contributing to inclusive and equitable quality education for all. The network offers educational professionals the opportunity to share their expertise in an international context.

Teachers without Borders operates under Finn Church Aid (FCA) as one of its volunteer networks. Our volunteers serve primarily those FCA’s development cooperation projects that require support to develop the quality of education. By 2020, the number of volunteer periods had already exceeded 100.

Our Mission

Teachers without Borders promotes the realization of quality education by supporting the development of the education structures. The volunteer expertise strengthens the pedagogical competence of education sector personnel both in Finland and abroad.

Our Vision

The quality and accessibility of education will improve especially in fragile contexts. The expertise within the Finnish education sector will be strengthened through voluntary work.

We build on Finnish education expertise to strengthen the teachers’ professional capacity in fragile contexts as well as to build the capacity of the education sector. Gaining global understanding and learning comprehensive skills strengthen the professional expertise of TwB volunteers. We respect everyone we work with. We seek to acknowledge and address inequitable power relations, making sure that our communication is ethical. We only recruit volunteers that have a task-relevant educational and professional background.
